Aurélien Géron
Aurélien Géron is a machine learning consultant and former Google employee. From 2013 to 2016, he led the video classification team at YouTube. Previously, he was the co-founder and CTO of Wifirst (2002–2012), one of the leading wireless internet providers in France, as well as the co-founder and CTO of the consulting firm Polyconseil (2001), which later became involved in managing the electric car-sharing service Autolib’.
Before this, he worked as an engineer in various industries, including finance (JP Morgan and Société Générale), defense (Canadian Department of Defense), and healthcare (blood transfusion services). Géron is the author of several technical books (on C++, Wi-Fi, and internet architectures) and taught computer science in a French engineering school.
Some interesting facts: he taught his three children to count in binary using their fingers (up to 1023), studied microbiology and evolutionary genetics before transitioning to software engineering, and during his second parachute jump, his main canopy did not open.
