Design feels hard because we often make it rigid. Many people chase rules and trends. Many tools get in the way. But design is still a playground, and you can enjoy it again.

What This Course Gives You

This course helps you bring back the fun in making things. You will create for joy, not for likes. It fits designers, developers, writers, and anyone who feels stuck. If your sites feel plain or forgettable, this space will help you change that.

The web now feels flat and safe. Many sites look the same and sound the same. Good design should speak, surprise, and stay in the mind. You will learn how to make work that stands apart.

What You Will Learn

You will learn how to shape clear ideas and bold visuals. You will work faster and see patterns on your own. You will build your style instead of copying others. Humor, story, and your past will become tools you can use with intent.

You will learn core design rules and when to bend them. You will use many tools and not depend on one app or trend.

What This Course Is Not

You will not learn to copy popular sites or chase design fads. You will not write filler text or fake “design noise.” You will not sit through slow, dull lessons.

How It Works

This is a self‑guided hub. You choose your path. You get videos, guides, tasks, source files, SVGs, design elements, and font sets. You also join a private Discord group where you can ask, share, and grow with others. New parts are added over time.

Your Design Voice

By the end, you will not try to be someone else. You will design in a way that feels honest and sharp. You will design like you, and that is the goal of this course.

Who teaches Radical Design – A Rebellious Web Design Course? Jack Mcdade

Jack Mcdade thumbnail
I have designed literally hundreds of bad websites and dozens of really good ones. I've been through the "trenches" of web design to learn how to do it properly. I had to enlarge a logo 410 times. I was forced to work with both Comic Sans and Zapfino in the same project. I made rounded corners from four separately cut .GIF files — yes, that happened too. I've been in design for over 15 years, and I've worked in various roles and companies, including: - a cog in the vast machine of a marketing agency - Director of Interactive at a growing web agency with work weeks of 60–80+ hours and nights spent on the office couch - "Design Technologist" on the (now closed) GE Design system team in San Francisco - freelance designer creating branding for startups and UI for MVPs - a designer who, for a time, was responsible for all visual aspects of the Laravel ecosystem - owner of my own small studio, Wilderborn - creator of Statamic — my bootstrapped indie CMS
