About the Authors

Polly Allen

Polly Allen thumbnail

Polly Allen is an expert with more than 20 years of experience in software development, creating and managing engineering teams, and leading cross-functional teams of scientists and engineers. In her role as Principal Product Manager at Alexa AI (Amazon), she led projects at the intersection of science and technology.

Her specialization focuses on the application of natural language processing technologies: search and navigation, text understanding, and generation. In 2020, Polly led the development and launch of the first automatic web content summaries for Alexa, based on transformer models similar to those underpinning ChatGPT.

Sitting at the intersection of product management and machine learning, Polly is an active advocate for diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities in the tech industry, striving to make AI accessible and understandable to more people.

She is also an experienced angel investor, a former corporate director, has advised startups, and has spoken at conferences on topics of product management, ethics, and DEI in artificial intelligence.

Polly earned a master's degree in software engineering from MIT and the University of Victoria, as well as an MBA from the University of British Columbia.

Rupa Chaturvedi

Rupa Chaturvedi is an expert in product design with over 15 years of experience in the technology industry. She has held key positions at companies such as Amazon (Alexa AI), Google, and Uber, as well as in innovative startups working with artificial intelligence.

She is the founder of the Human Centered AI Institute, where she develops and conducts corporate training programs and individual coaching sessions on creating and designing AI products.

Rupa has made significant contributions to the development of consumer technologies at the intersection of AR, AI, ML, and computer vision. Specifically, she participated in the creation of AR and Conversational AI solutions for Amazon and Uber.

She earned a master's degree in product design from Stanford University and a diploma from the Creative Leadership program at THNK, Amsterdam.

She holds over 18 patents in AI design. Additionally, she teaches UX design for AI applications at Stanford and serves as a mentor and investor in the food-tech sector.

As a visionary and leader, Rupa has dedicated her career to the humanization of technology and supporting others through professional activities and mentorship.
