I am an American expatriate living in Berlin with my wife and two dogs. I love creating web applications, most often using Ruby, and writing about SQLite and Rails.

I work as a software engineer and technical lead, and I previously studied philology. I hold a master's degree in Classical Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, where I focused on ancient Greek philosophy and Roman poetry.

I have contributed to the development of Rails, the sqlite3-ruby library, and I maintain several of my own gems that help make Ruby and Rails a better environment for working with SQLite.
